Member Discipline
The board had a conversation around how best to respond to a member who has violated the Code of Conduct enough times that it rises to the level of the Board of Directors.
The board decided to...
disable the member's key until the member has a face to face conversation with one or more members of the board.
If there are any more complaints made against the member, including complaints about not cleaning up, their membership will be terminated.
The member will be informed of all of this in writing via email.
(Note from the future: On July 14 the member informed us they have a seasonal work schedule and are rarely in Des Moines right now. They will contact the board to set up a meeting when they return. As of August 14th the member has not contacted anyone.)

Space Updates
The springs which automatically close the door to the Wood Shop broke. Jason is planning to get replacements and fix.
Dave did some more work on the Rotary Phase Converter. It needs a pigtail to plug in to the wall. Jason says it also needs thicker wire. He plans to put it next to the bench where the lathe tools are in the Metal Shop.
Jason also decided to destroy the Metal Shop's exhaust fan by accident. He had already repaired it by the time of this meeting.
Jason finished the new cutting table for the Textiles Room and it looks great!
There is a new-to-us drum sander in the Wood Shop. Jason is still looking for parts for the old one.
Jason also plans to bring a 12" disc sander back in.
A member stopped by recently to show off a table he made that will be in the state fair!
The Secretary still needs to send an email to all members asking them to send in a photo of themselves to attach to the Current Members spreadsheet.
We did not get the Prairie Meadows grant for a new laser. John replied to them with a nice thank you letter.
A conversation about grant writing developed.
We received the 2 computer monitors whose purchase was previously approved.
Financials
We're in the black by $2200 for the year!
Still need to reimburse Jason
We have a new member who pays by check, so expiration will have to be manually updated.
Meeting Adjourned
"You could probably drug them to be normal." - Speculative hypothesis concerning the Secretary's children.
Conversation snippets without context:
"You had me at, "Rocket Paper Airplane"
"It'll either work or it'll go up in smoke, right?"
